M600 Python

Gunner, HEAT, Imperialist!

The Python was a capable main battle tank at the time of its 22nd century introduction. It was primarily used by the UNSC army and is still in the CMA's active reserve. It has good mobility, firepower, and protection and crew comfort for its 3 occupants. Its is reliable in most atmospheric environments and can be fitted with a kit for Exoatmospheric operations. Though this field installation is unpopular with crews as it requires the removal of the storage bins and increases the width of the tank considerably. The A and B variants are more or less concurrent. With the B's wider track preferred for use in the CMA's very sparsely developed area of operation. By contrast, the lighter and narrower A variant was preferred by the UNSC's Army units, deployed in the massive urban areas of the inner colonies. The tank was not particularly popular with the UNSC, who relatively quickly moved to the M700 Viper and the M808 scorpion shortly thereafter. The A model scorpions had similar top speed and protection but a lower ground pressure. In addition, advancements in technology allowed the M808 to pack a 90mm gun with similar ballistic performance to the M600's 140mm gun. Albeit this did have a less powerful explosive effect. The increase in rate of fire, ammunition storage, and reintroduction of coaxial weapons (7.62 and/or 20mm) was deemed a worthy trade off.

In CMA service the M600 soldiered on much longer, being developed into a successful series of inter-operable vehicles. Including the M610 MGMC (a radar guided self propelled anti air platform), the M621 M-SAM (a medium range Surface to air missile platform), and the M601 AVRE (a combat engineering vehicle with a whopping 300mm gun/mortar)

The M600 family
Between the discarded stocks of UNSC Pythons and the ... loose pockets... of CMA quartermasters, the Python is a reasonably affordable option for an Innie cell wanting to make a statement. All versions are available for sale.

Roof mounted remote weapon system sold separately.
